Liminal Sky is the new creative chapter for acclaimed producer Jaime Gomez Arellano (Ghost, Ulver, Opeth, Paradise Lost) and Daniel Knight, continuing the musical path they began with their former band Messenger. Written and recorded in isolation at Orgone Studios, their debut album All Tomorrow’s Darkness transforms grief, insomnia and the bleak stillness of the English countryside into widescreen, melancholic post-rock.
All Tomorrow’s Darkness is a 56-minute Post-Rock journey recorded in the rural stillness of Orgone Studios, situated in the English countryside. A stark honesty and sense of emotional weather permeates every corner of Liminal Sky’s debut album.
Shaped through long nights of insomnia, drinking to numb the sorrows, and the haunted quiet of pandemic-era desolation, All Tomorrow’s Darkness is a suspended state where hope only flickers in brief, passing moments. Working in isolation, Gomez and Knight tracked the core of the album themselves, the fields outside their windows and the weight of unchanging grey skies seeped into the songs like another instrument. All Tomorrow’s Darkness is a landscape you inhabit.
At the heart of the album is Mat McNerney (Hexvessel, Beastmilk/Grave Pleasures), whose recent loss of his mother deepened the record’s emotional honesty. Joined by a striking cast of Nordic collaborators including Ulver's Kristoffer Rygg, Anders Møller, Tore Ylwizaker & Ole Alexander Halstensgård, Karin Park (Årabrot), Lars Horntveth (Jaga Jazzist), as well as Daniel O’Sullivan, Alicia Nurho and Matt Rozeik, each adding atmosphere without altering the album’s singular, desolate vision.
Released worldwide by Karisma Records, All Tomorrow’s Darkness is a beautifully bleak debut: a closing of old chapters, the beginning of a new world, and a testament to how loss can illuminate even the darkest horizon.
